"em, what's it like to be in love" i quietly asked.
"it's endless. it feels like lemonade on a hot day, mittens when it snows" she said, almost like she was miles away, "liv, i love him so much"
"i know" i said, in my fake happy voice. i mean, i was truly so happy for my big sister, but i missed her. she was never around. she was always with todd. she abandoned me.
"liv?" she asked, reaching for my hand
"yeah?" i replied
"no matter what happens with todd...tomorrow, next month, or even five years from now, it's you and me" she said.
"you and me" i repeated.
"against the world, always" she said before we fell asleep.

"emma wake up" i called over to her. i sat up and looked over to her side of the room. my sister was the wavy hair and tan skin. the green eyes that could make any other eye color look dull in comparison, was gone. emma was gone, she had been for three months. i hugged my knees to my chest and quietly cried. emma was dead, and i was left here. we were all left here while she was a thousand miles away, playing in the skies.
